Pokemon Day '25 reveals more info on Pokemon Legends Z-A and I am here for it

I'll be real with you, I didn't expect a lot from Pokemon Day. Nintendo has gotten REAL comfy with Pokemon's success and they'd be fine making a reveal that Eevee has four legs. In fact, when the Pokemon Direct started a late segment talking about how the upcoming Pokemon Champions will be in...wait for it...multiple languages, I thought it was a death knell for the whole presentation.

But they showed more on Pokemon Legends Z-A and oh my god is it a lot.

First off, they revealed Mega Evolutions which, we all knew was going to happen. Pokemon GO, Pokemon TCG and more have all been suddenly acting like they care about Mega Evolutions so it was pretty clear they were reintroducing the world to the concept, even if there weren't insane levels of leaks we would have known this.

A remarkably tall man in red striped pants and long white hair sits in a small chair he barely fits in.

More bits of the game's world were reveals and, honestly, the game looks a LOT prettier than Scarlet and Violet, which honestly isn't that tough to be honest. And, just like with Pokemon Legends Arceus, every single named NPC is a clear relative to famous Pokemon characters from the past games including AZ, who is clearly a descendant of giant fantasy hobo ZA.

What really got me, however, is something that Pokemon has needed for a very long time. An active battle system. Instead of just picking moves from a list and watching your Pokemon as they patiently wait for their turn, you can actively move about and dodge attacks. Some moves will only have a short or long range so if you're doing something like Fire Punch, you'll need to be all up on.

They also show a Pokemon using Rollout that completely misses meaning you'll need to really aim. This adds the kind of action to a Pokemon game the series often lacks. In fact, all the people I know that don't get into Pokemon games often don't because they hate turn based gameplay, which, honestly, reasonable.

I cannot believe how much actual info they gave out this time and I'm so excited for Pokemon Z-A later this year when it drops.
