Oh boy was that Nintendo Direct a long one. Let's take a look at every single thing that was mentioned. And don't worry, some of this stuff will be broken down in other articles. But this is the big ol' list of everything.
Mario 40th Anniversary - Starting with a slide show celebrating the 40th Anniversary for the Mario franchise giving us some honestly really cool concept arts from the various games that I wish existed outside the Nintendo museum.
It also really makes me want to see the alternate dimension of our reality where Miyamoto didn't need to create Mario because he was given the rights to Popeye the Sailor.
Nintendo in the Real World - Then they talked about the Nintendo Museum, the Super Mario World amusementparks and their sponsorship of the Kyoto Marathon.
New Mario Movie - They then made the annoucement that the next Mario movie was going to be called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in which characters like Rosalina were going to be added though the casting for her character was not given yet.
I'm just happy this guarantees that psychotic Luma from the first movie will make a return. I love my little spirit animal.
They also talked to Chris Meledandri from Illumination and while it was mostly him just talking about how happy he was to work with Nintendo on these movies, the thing I truly enjoyed was that they had him turn his desk shelf into the Nintendo Direct type backdrop where you put things of interest on it and he went with a R.O.B. Amiibo which made me really happy. I love R.O.B. and hope this means he'll be in the movie.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Rerelease - They showed off Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. They'll be released October 10th, 2025 and I was happy to see they looked as impressive as they do on my Steam Deck...you know...if I did that sort of thing. I just hope that, like the emulators, they create a button that allows you to replace the Wiimote waggle so you don't have to flail your arm every time you wanna do the spin attack.
They will also be getting some absolutely stunning Amiibos of both Mario and Rosalina that, according to the actual store page, are larger than standard Amiibos and only give you a Life Mushroom when tapped. Which is wild for a game that CONSTANTLY dumps extra lives on you. But look at how fucking good that Amiibo for Rosalina is.
They also announced that on November 25th, if you act in the 0.2 seconds you'll have before the scalper bots lay waste to it, you can purchase a replica of Rosalina's story book.

New Mario Tennis - Mario Tennis Fever is the name of the newest Mario game coming to the Switch. Personally, I love the Mario Tennis games for reasons I will never fully understand.
The game features a new system involving unlockable special rackets that give you special power up moves. This replaces the traditional system of each character having their own unique special and instead makes it a little bit more generic but it at least means you can pick the character you like without worrying if their special sucks.
The game will also, happily, include an adventure story mode in which several of the characters are turned into babies and have to go off on a weird tennis quest. And while I will normally whine about having to deal with Baby Mario and the like, this is special because it gives us Baby Wario AND Baby Waluigi. Finally.
Luckily, I can use my whine on the fact that the game will have color commentary provided at all points by those goddamn talking Wonder Flowers from Super Mario Bros Wonder.
Switch 2 Version of Mario Wonder - Speaking of Mario Wonder, the Switch 2 version of the game will be called, brace yourself, Super Mario Bros Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. This is a name so long I'm stunned no one got isekai'd in the making of it.
The new "Bellabel Park" will include a series of minigames and more of those godawful talking flowers.
In addition, there will be new collectables added to the stages and, what looks like, new stages.
Oh god it's that flower again - I'm taking these notes as I watch and I feel like they're messing with me. Nintendo just announced a full size physical replica of Super Mario Bros. Wonder's talking flower. This flower, shown here with the same face I'd give it, is going to be released in Spring of 2026 for people who want to really fuck up a gift for their gamer child.

New Yoshi's Island Game - A new game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book has been announced. And given that all the Yoshi's Island games feature some sort of bizarre artistic aesthetic whether pastel drawing, yarn based, or living craft fair, this one seems to look more like it's animated in both pencil sketches and stop motion with Yoshi moving like he came out of a Spider-verse movie.
In this game you fill out a book by putting creatures on your back and going through stages with them, automatically taking notes on what happens in the environments when exposed to the creature riding you. Much like how relationships works.
From the footage it looks like it's a bit easier but if past Yoshi's Island games have given me a clue, it'll start simple and then get absolutely buck wild towards the end.
Storm Lancers - A 2D platforming roguelite that looks like it's taken more than a healthy amount of pages from Dead Cells though at a much slower gameplay speed.
It is out now.
Dinkum - A 3D survival crafting game with an island inspired by the Australian outback. This game seems to be VERY similar to Animal Crossing, except for the fact that instead of cute animal villagers, it's humans, albeit ones who look like dead eyed, sociopathic wooden dolls come to life.
Dinkum is a timed console exclusive that launches November 5th, 2025 though a demo is available now.
Popucom - This is a multiplayer ONLY game that requires two players, each representing two colors. You go through a series of stages interacting with color coded switches, laser walls, and other puzzles by either switching to the appropriate color or, if it's not one of your two, having your partner switch to there's to tackle the issue.
There is also a "Party Mode" in which four players, each representing a singular color, can play special stages where they must work together to survive.
Popucom comes out this holiday season.
More Tomodachi Weirdness - The newest Tomodachi Life game, known as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream got more reveals. This time, instead of everyone mostly staying to the apartments, they wonder the large open island where they can be viewed at any time. You can even drag them to others to have them interact with each other, whether that's helpful or hurtful is up to the characters.
A wider array of options for customizing was shown
It looks to have a LOT more surrealist moments
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream comes out Spring of 2026
Moooortal Kooooombat - In the first game they use to showcase the Switch 2 it is wild they chose the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. This is a collection of old Mortal Kombat games from the VERY early years including the portable versions.
There is also an "interactive documentary" that shows a lot of cool behind the scenes making of things with the early games including the actors in costumes.
The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection comes out digitally on Oct 30th, 2025 and a physical version on Dec 12th, 2025.
Relive the reliving of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the first time again - That's right, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade, the first part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
If you haven't played it yet on anything else by now, you can pay full price for it on Jan 22nd, 2026
Lynked: Banner of the Spark - An honestly interesting looking rogue lite in which you gather a massive amount of weapons and tools to not only fight enemies but to gather materials in which to help grow your island. In a presentation absolutely silly with rogue lites and Animal Crossing like town builders it's really cool to see one of them go the extra step and combine both genres.
The game will also allow the usage of the Joy Con Mouse Controls if you're nasty like that.
Lynked: Banner of the Spark launched today.
Hades II...finally - Cue the DK Rap cause IT'S FINALLY HERE. Hades II has finally climbed out of Steam's beta mode and towards the Switch 2.
It was announced that the game would run in an impressive 120 FPS in docked mode and 60 FPS in handheld mode.
Hades II launches digitally on Sept 25th, 2025 and physically on Nov 20th, 2025.
Kirby Air Riders Amiibos?! - Special Amiibos were announced for Kirby Air Riders featuring ones of the characters on their air rides. One of the interesting features for it was that the riders could be taken off the vehicles and swapped. When scanned, the character and ride are put in the game as a special Amiibo character similar to the thing you get when you scan an Amiibo into Smash Bros. This racer can be trained and leveled up allowing you to compete against it or a friend.
Currently the only two shown are Kirby on the Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee (Nintendo, name that poor bastard) on the Winged Star and come out on Nov 20th, 2025, the same day as the game itself.
More characters and rides are going to be coming out soon.
More Masahiro Sakurai goodness - A second Nintendo Direct solely focusing on Kirby Air Riders was announced. As little excitement as I feel towards the game, I loved the first direct and watching Sakurai struggle to come up with things to talk about involving the game was so amazing it created a meme garden and I look forward to seeing him go through that again.
The date has yet to be announced for it.
More on the next Hyrule Warriors - Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, the upcoming Hyrule Warriors that follows Princess Zelda's journey back in time during the events of Tears of the Kingdom, showed off more footage.
In additional to the original style of Hyrule Warriors fighting, Zonai tech like hydrants and fans can be picked up and used as temporary weapons.
There will be a two-player split screen co-op mode or you can use GameShare to play with someone in the same room.
It showed off a new character which is, surprisingly, a Kurok.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment comes out Nov 6th, 2025. And while it says it's for the Switch 2, the GameShare footage shows the game running on the first Switch.
Another Dragon Quest remake - Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is coming to the Switch 2. The game has been completely redone from the ground up using art inspired by the style of the legendary Akira Toriyama to create some truly unfortunate looking main characters.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will launch Feb 5th, 2026
Remember that Nintendo Today app? - Do you remember how not long ago Nintendo released that Today app that didn't really do much? Well, it's getting a new Kirby theme and the promise that it will now feature more ads involving Kirby Air Riders.
A Boy most Virtual - In an announcement about additions to the Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack they announced the inclusion of another classic Nintendo System. The Virtual Boy. This news made me laugh so hard I actually hurt my throat. But this won't be like the other system collections. To play this one you actually have to acquire a new accessory designed to look like an original Virtual Boy that the Switch 1 or 2 slides into allowing the games to be played in stereoscopic 3D.
Please note, I actually love my Virtual Boy and it still works. I'm just stunned to see Nintendo do this.
14 games were announced for it including Wario Land, Teleroboxer, the unfortunately named Jack Bros, and more. No word yet on whether or not the infamously terrible Waterworld game will come out for it.
Also, no word on whether or not other NON-Virtual Boy games will be made to work with the accessory though I'm holding out hope for Super Mario Land 3D as it had some excellent usage of 3D.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE - If you live in a world where the events of Fatal Frame II were never spoiled for you, than early 2026 when this game drops is your time to shine, baby.
Switch 2 Update Versions - Several games were shown as having Switch 2 updates coming out in the near future that added not only increased graphics but also enhanced features. The games shown were:
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 - Will have more enemies capable of being rendered on screen at once.
Overcooked 2 - Adds camera play and enhanced multiplayer gameplay.
Stardew Valley - Adds both split screen up to 4 players as well as adding compatibility with the Joy Con Mouse Controls for you freaks.
Human Fall Flat - Also adds Joy Con Mouse Controls as well as 5 new levels.
More Powerwashing! - In a surprise announcement, especially to me, a massive fan of the first one, Powerwash Simulator 2 was announced. Shown were the following:
A brand new campaign, hopefully that got as wild as the first game's complete with the aliens and the evil politician and the time travel (it got crazy).
New tools like power scrubbers and lifts.
Furniture that can be found and cleaned before adding to your customizable base.
4 player co-op online and 2 player co-op split screen are both available. The 2 player co-op can even be done for campaign levels.
Launches fall of 2025.
Just when you thought you merged your last fruit - Along comes a new Suika game known as Suika Game Planet. While playing a lot like the original Suika game, this time you're dropping the fruit from a UFO onto a round fluid planet where everything floats to the middle.
Using Gameshare you can play with up to three other players.
Suika Game Planet launches winter 2025.
More Metroid Prime 4 footage - A lot of additional gameplay of the game were shown that looked genuinely amazing. In addition to several new environments and gameplay elements, they also showed Samus using the VI-0-LA, a new motorcycle Samus uses to get around a massive open area.
Amiibos were shown too that would be coming out with the game featuring Samus, Samus riding VI-0-LA, and a new character named Sylux.
The game is set to come out Dec 5th, 2025.
Metroid Prime Art Book - An art book called Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective featuring, obviously, sketch work and art from Prime 1, 2, and 3 will be coming out Oct 25th, 2025.
Donkey Kong Bananza DLC? - Yes Virginia, there is paid DLC coming out for Donkey Kong Bananza. It has two parts to it, the DK Island and the Emerald Rush.
The DK Island is a small area in which you can interact with classic Donkey Kong characters like Diddy and Dixie who, for some reason, are not horrified that their long time buddy looks like a completely different character.
The Emerald Rush is a mode in which you work for Void Kong collecting emeralds in a rouge lite mode where you gain temporary abilities that allow you to harvest even more emeralds that you then can use for new cosmetic items for usage in the base game as well as statues you can use to decorate DK Island. Unfortunately, Emerald Rush is only available after you beat the main game so if you're looking for new cosmetic items to wear while playing through the base game you're going to have to hold off if you're interested in a second play through which is a little rough as the game has about zero replayability.
The paid DLC is available today.
A Brand New Pokemon Game - In what I genuinely felt was the coolest thing showing in the direct, Nintendo announed Pokemon Pokopia. In this brand new game, you play as a Ditto who finds an old broken Pokedex on an island and becomes fascinated by the concept of a human working with Pokemon. So much so that it takes on a vaguely humanoid form. You live out an island Animal Crossing style, but instead of tools, you meet other Pokemon and learn to morph your body to adapt. Turning your arms into vines or blades to grow plants or cut down materials.
It has a lot of Minecraft like elements, including the cube based world though the Pokemon look true to form.
Pokemon Pokopia drops some time 2026 to be announced but I can't wait.
More on Pokemon Legends Z-A - A slew of new info came out for Pokemon Legends Z-A in an extended trailer that showed off several things.
When approaching a trainer you're going to fight, sneaking up behind them allows you to get the upper hand and first attack.
Three new Mega Evolutions were shown for Delphox, Greninja, and, my personal favorite starter, Chesnaught.
A paid DLC was announced for the game called Mega Dimension. The DLC, which involves Hoopa, will also have the long awaits Mega Evolution for Raichu. In fact it will have both an X AND Y Mega Evolution. And while the DLC doesn't officially launch until much later, early pre-purchase will give you special clothing in Pokemon Legends Z-A's base game.
Danganronpa 2 x 2 - A remake of Danganronpa 2, this also features a special new mode in which you explore the island and encounter an event in which the story features new victims and culprits.
Danganronpa 2 x 2 comes out some time 2026.
Dynasty Warriors Origins - This entry to the Dynasty Warriors universe is also going to have paid DLC that adds new layers and characters to the story.
Dynasty Warriors Origins launches on Jan 22nd, 2026.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection - This new game features a wider variety of mounts and a slightly more mature art style.
You can get it twisted when the game drops on March 13th, 2026
Your classic Nintendo Direct high speed release montage - You know that bit at the end of the firework show where they launch a bunch of stuff at once? This is that. Shown were:
Two Points Museum - Oct 28th, 2025
Disgaea 7 Complete - Oct 10th, 2025
EA Sports FC 26 - Sept 26th, 2025
Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake - Oct 30th, 2025
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage - This Winter
LEGO Voyagers - Sept 15th, 2025
Little Nightmares III - Oct 10th, 2025
Persona 3 Reload - Oct 23rd, 2025
New Resident Evil - A brand new Resident Evil where you play as a big city detective is coming out on the Switch 2 on Feb 27th, 2025. In addition both Resident Evil Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will be launching in their respective Gold Editions on the same day.
Closing out with a New Fire Emblem! - The game is called Fire Emblem: Fortune Wave. Not much was shown of it other than the fact that, for some reason, the game seems to take place in a world in which no one wears shoes and everyone's got their dogs barking.
Fire Emblem: Fortune Wave comes out some time 2026.
