Gaming studio Tokoronyori made a gem of a game this year.
In a day and age when we have co-op-only games like It Takes Two and Split Fiction, comes an indie game that takes the co-op genre and gives it a fun twist. Bokura: Planet may be a bunch of cute little pixels moving around, but it's much deeper than it looks.
Here's our spoiler-free review.
You and a friend team up from different devices to confront weird-looking aliens while exploring an alien planet, searching for a way to fix your ship so you can head back to Earth. As it usually happens, things go sideways. But the way the game does this is absolutely phenomenal, and it's my favorite thing about it by far. Both players get completely different experiences out of Bokura: Planet. Each character has a specific story and path, and players must continue to work together while keeping some things hidden from each other. Can you trust your co-op buddy?

Without going into too much detail, another thing Bokura: Planet does very well is convey a super deep message via such an unsuspecting game. I wasn't expecting to have a whole existential crisis an hour into the game, but there I was, having one. This game puts the player in the shoes of some very surprisingly complex characters, and the ride is incredible.
Bokura: Planet is not a very long game; it takes about 5 to 6 hours to play in its entirety, but it's highly entertaining and is a fun bonding opportunity with a friend. You will try not to lose your shit on each other as you navigate some unique and complex puzzles and their very creative solutions. It's a fun, deep game that enrages, entertains, and perplexes.

Bokura: Planet is available on PC and is highly recommended by us here at Pixigonal.
