Everyone has written a fanfic or two before. Right?
I mean, isn't it standard? Picture it with me, if you will - you're a regular 13-year-old who has just started to dive deeply into this new-to-you Lord of the Rings fandom, incredibly motivated and inspired to immerse yourself in your new obsession. The most logical next step is, of course, fanfiction. For the uninitiated, fanfiction is basically taking a well-established fandom and creating new adventures within it involving established characters while creating new ones of your own.
Yours truly here used to write a hefty amount of Lord of the Rings fanfic, as well as others like X-Men and Harry Potter. It was the best, most immersive creative outlet, and it was how my sister and I passed our summers away from school when we weren't playing The Sims. Those were the good ol' days...
Sensei! I Like You So Much by LaaO Studios lets you relive those glorious fanfic days while taking it up a notch - you get to design merch, itabags, and you go all over town looking for inspo and crossing items off your ever-growing to-do list.

Sensei! I Like You So Much review
Now, remember when I said that while I did indulge in fanfic at the ripe age of early-teens, I mentioned Lord of the Rings. That's important. In SILYSM, you write anime fanfic and are thrown deep into the life of an avid fanfic writer and merch decorator. I was very thankful for the game explaining terms I was definitely not familiar with and am very happy to have learned along the way.
You play as Mila (which is hilariously one of my nicknames), a fanfic writer who is very shy about her work. She meets Cordelia, and her life is changed as Cordelia shares Mila's work with the world and generates commissions and projects for her. You and Cordelia travel around town going to places like school, the mall, the theater, and more to gather inspiration, see what's trending, and complete commissions. Commissions can come in the form of fanfic plot requests to itabag decorations. When writing commissions, there are ways to interact with the story your character is creating and add a little bit more of your own flavor to some elements of the fanfic stories. The better your writing, the more likes, comments, and followers you'll get, and the more commissions and exposure you'll receive.
The character creation is adorable and has plenty of fun options to make your own unique characters. There are also premade characters that are just as cute and unique, and each has its own little personality. The tutorial does explain things pretty nicely, and the game is pretty easy to follow, even if there are a lot of different features and options when it comes to daily activities for Mila. Mila spends energy in exchange for completing tasks, so spend it wisely!
This game was pretty fun and kept me entertained for quite some time. Some of the text reads a little funky, and some sentence structures just don't make any sense, but those are little details that can be ironed out and also add to the charm of the game. As you level up and unlock more features and locations, SILYSM does a wonderful job at putting you in the shoes of a writer and a fangirl. As a fellow writer myself, I was pretty entertained and satisfied with how much fun and engaging the game is. It'd be fun for any writer to pick it up and give it a go - who knows, it may even help spark some creativity for some more writing!
As a fangirl of many fandoms, this game also does incredible justice to that part of the fanfic author life as well. The hyperfixation on our favorite characters, the fun little theories, the little home lives we all imagine for them - SILYSM incorporates it all in a game that legitimately teaches you how to be a professional fangirl/fanboy/fanhuman.
