Holy mother of.... I don't even have an expression here!
My dear bookish friends who are not aware of the existence of the Soul Magic series by Jenny Grimes, I present to you several reasons for you to pick up this series.
I loved Jenny's first book, Shaedes of Power. It's a solid dark romantasy read with an excellent cast of characters and takes the reader on an immersive adventure that will have you invested in just a few pages. Book two, Shaedes of Fire, was released back in June and was even hotter, more adventurous, and pretty tense. Now, just a few weeks after the release of Shaedes of Fire, we lucky people in Jenny's permanent ARC Team were blessed with the ARC for the third entry in the series, Shaedes of Beasts.
First of all, my hat is entirely off to Jenny. She is on her way to publishing at least three books this year, and they only keep getting better! Writing that much and that hard takes not only time but passion and dedication, and you can easily see how Jenny's love for her work soaks through her pages.
Secondly...
Shaedes of Beasts is incredible.
Jenny turns everything up to 11 on her third installment, especially when it comes to the spice.
So. Hot.
The characters that had already been so nicely established are even more firmly established and developed in the third book, which brought some very welcome surprises and a ridiculous amount of joy to my life. There were a few curveballs thrown in there that I wasn't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed, things that had my blood boiling and wanting to punch my punching bag, and it made me very emotional. Jenny has such a beautiful and important message in this book that some of us really need to hear and process. It makes one take a look at and evaluate oneself, maybe even try to heal a little harder. Also, I refuse to spoil anything at all, but I never expected Edmyn and Farris to win my heart over as hard as they both did in this book.
So, when September 23rd rolls around, will I be seeing you with this book glued to your face? Because I expect to. Shaedes of Power and Shaedes of Fire are both incredibly fun and easy to read, so they're fast enough to get through in order to catch up with this third entry. We here at Pixigonal highly recommend the Soul Magic series.
