Andor Ending Explained: Who are you fighting for?

Mon Mothma, Perrin, and Luthen attend a party on Coruscant

This week on Andor, we had so many iconic moments, such as Cassian becoming a "very, very, pretty" fashion designer (his words, not mine!), a Ghorman heist gone wrong, and another fancy party I wish I had been invited to. Mon Mothma served yet another series of amazing looks, and her trophy husband did his job perfectly.

But with those iconic moments, it's clear we are finally at war. The Rebels all know it, and the Empire is finally starting to catch on. Darkness is seeping into everything the characters on the show do, and it can't be much longer before everything goes wrong.

Here's where the FOUR plotlines ended this week, and my predictions of what's to come. (Spoiler alert: it's not good)

Andor Trilogy Two Ending Explained:

Mon and Luthen

While this series of episodes was unfortunately Mon-lite (my only complaint), we saw her girlbossing her way through the Senate and the different parties at the beginning of the newest legislative session. But her refusal to take the Oath of Office, except for the few words she believed in, shows she's starting to question her place in the Senate, especially after her failure to get support for Ghorman. I truly don't know if she's going to be able to keep up appearances for the sake of politics, especially when we know that 0 BBY is when the senate is officially disbanded by the Emperor.

Luthen, on the other hand, is starting to go through it. He's getting pushback for his decisions, second-guessing things he has been doing for years, and overall is starting to lose it. He's lost sight of the people in the rebellion and thinks of them only as a means to an end. He's constantly keeping people apart, such as Vel and Cinta, or confused when people carry different standards for the people they care about, such as Cassian and Bix. I'm hoping this is a reminder he needs to remember the people he recruited, otherwise, he's no different than the Empire.

Overall, I feel like these two are going to end up crashing into each other soon to fully create the Rebellion. Mon is going to need his teams and information, and Luthen is going to need her leadership. They've been dancing around this decision for a while, but it's clear: the time is finally here.

Who are they fighting for? The Galaxy.

Cassian and Bix

These two ended their arc with a bang...literally. Bix killed ISB's main torture doctor, who had been haunting her nightmares, and Cassian blew up his office just to make sure his work would never be replicated. This is clearly their way of trying to get Bix under control, as she's been spiraling over the course of this trilogy of episodes. However, with Cassian being questioned by Luthen whether or not he has what it takes to continue, the bombing definitely shows that he is, and he's ready to start making a statement.

It's hard to tell whether or not this was an official mission, but it makes one thing clear: this couple is ready to do whatever it takes to help the Rebellion. And they're going to do it together.

I fear that killing the man isn't going to be enough to soothe Bix, though. She has issues handling the Rebellion as a whole, and I don't think killing the man will kill her nightmares. Luthen also warned her that whenever she chooses to go off her drugs, her nightmares are going to be worse, and it makes me worry if what's haunting her will eventually cause her demise.

Who are they fighting for? Each other.

Wil and Saw

While their arc ended in episode 5, the ending is one we need to talk about. Wil has fully embraced Saw Guerra's craziness and joined up with his crew. And while I think this is a terrible decision, that's going to end up with him literally burning from the inside out, it does make sense why Wil would join them. With only three of the Ferrix crew left, Wil is the one who has lost the most so far. While Bix and Cassian have each other, Wil is much more of a free agent. He sees himself in Saw and believes this is a way to not only fight, but also get revenge for everything he's lost. His planet, his family, even the love he found before they were betrayed in the last trilogy.

I feel like this is going to be Wil's doom, and if we see him again, he's not going to last long. He's lost sight of the big picture, just like Saw has, and only is there for distruction.

Who are they fighting for? Themselves.

Dedra and Syril

As Dedra's spy on the inside, Syril managed to infiltrate the Ghorman Front this week, and is doing a fantastic job. The Ghormans believe he's on their side, to the point they'll even joke about him being an Imperial Spy right in front of him. The dramatic irony creates tension that you can cut with a knife. They trust him

Dedra's job, on the other hand, is going exactly to plan. She wanted Ghorman rebels bold enough to do the wrong thing at the right time, and they are playing right into their hands. But on the other hand, Syril's not allowed to know the real reason he's there - I'm sure he thinks he's just there to make sure the Empire has a stronger presence on Ghorman. He's got no idea the plan is to actually destabilize the entire planet. And with Krennic involved, I think we'll find out the fate of the planet next week, because I am willing to bet the thing they're mining for isn't just for regular canons - it's for the Death Star.

I worry about the Ghormans, but I also worry about Syril. Eventually, he'll figure out the truth or Dedra will tell him. And I don't think he's going to take being used well. Whether or not that's enough to push him to the Rebellion, I have no idea. But I have grown attached to both him and Dedra, and I hope to see them succeed by flipping sides.

Who are they fighting for? The Empire. (For now?)

What Next?

I'm going to get the sad part out of the way first: for Rogue One to make sense, Bix has to die within the next three episodes. When we meet Cassian, he's a man who has lost and sacrificed everything for the Rebellion. And as we know, the last trilogy of episodes will cover the days before Rogue One, and there's absolutely no way Cassian would act the way he does in the movie if Bix died days earlier. My storytelling instincts keep screaming that Bix is in danger, and I am sure her death is going to break my heart. And speaking of death, I'm pretty sure Wil is going to die within the next three episodes as well. Even if it's his own fault for huffing space gasoline fumes, if he were still alive, he would have saved Cassian from Saw in Rogue One. With the last of Cassian's family gone, it'll break him into the Rebellion machine Luthen wants him to be, because he'll have nobody he cares about "holding him back."

In happier news, I'm also pretty confident K-2SO will show up within the next trilogy as well. We know Alan Tudyk was on set, and because Cassian's trust issues have trust issues, the level of trust Cassian has with his droid bestie needs time to develop. Like maybe...a year? Anyway, I look forward to their friendship's origin story,

My other big prediction is that the next three episodes will be the trilogy where the Rebellion truly becomes the one we see on the screen. I think Mon is going to leave the senate (and probably also her family) to run in, we'll see the construction of actual rebel bases instead of safe houses, and maybe even go to Dantooine to see the former base Leia gives up in A New Hope. I look forward to seeing the Rebellion make their way out of the shadows, because there's not much time left to truly set it up.

Also, I am secretly hoping for a Leia update. If her father is going to be heavily involved in the rest of the season, she's got to come up at some point, right? Especially since she's going to be a Senator soon...
