An Open Letter to Game Freak about Eevee

So a ways back the big old massive Pokemon leak happened and it was one of the biggest leaks in video game history. Information about every past Pokemon game came to the surface about stories and Pokemon that never made it to the game. Information about the future games came out in such abundance that one of the main leakers claims to have a playable version of the next Pokemon game. And a lot of REMARKABLY questionable content was also found on the servers as well.

But to be clear, we're not going to deal with that bit, not even that guy who likes to start his stories with "when the line between Pokemon and Humans was blurred" who needs to be on an FBI watch list. I mean, come on, who hasn't dreamed of repeatedly copulating with Octillery and then discarding them over and over until one returns with your new children. Show of hands.

I can't see you, obviously, so I'm just going to assume all hands went up.

No, this letter is about Eevee and a particular leaked communication.

See, for years, when a new Pokemon drops, everyone's like "what is the new Eevee gonna be like?" But Slyveon, the newest Eeveelution of the Fairy type variety, came out over a decade ago in 2013.

So why? When there still needs to be an Eeveelution for Rock, Dark, Ghost, Flying, Bug, Poison, Dragon, Steel, Ice, Normal, Fighting, and Ground still need to exist, where are the next Eeveelutions.

Well, according to the leak it turns out that there is a reason and it is INFURIATING.

According to this tweet by Centro Leaks, there was supposed to be a Flying-type Eevee introduced and they scrapped it.

Not even playing. The reason they haven't released a new Eeveelution is because it was too similar to fanart. Can you imagine how many brilliant Pokemon have been scrapped because Game Freak was too stubborn to allow the idea of their ideas being too similar to a fan's? There is a MILLION pieces of Pokemon fan art out there.

Like, these are just from one person (who I desperately need to find the name of) but it's one of the most heavily circulated pieces of Pokemon fan art in existence.

They all look incredible. But, according to the email, now no Pokemon are allowed to look anything like these. It kills me. The longer Game Freak waits, the more fan art will be created and the less likely a Pokemon we actually want will come to pass.

Game Freak, you need to stop. You have one of two things you can build. You can either build a community, or you can build a bridge and get over yourself.
