Why does Capcom insist that Monster Hunter Wild's limited events need to put crap on our heads?

A character in Monster Hunter Wilds stands there like an absolute doof with a bird drapped over his head.

I have always loved Capcom's willingness to be weird. They have this weird love for their properties where they do not hold back on weirdness. Especially with their Monster Hunter crossovers. I have rode a Palamute into battle that looked like Rush from the Mega Man games. I have turned my Palico into a tiny cat version of Pheonix Wright. I have dressed my character up like Chun Li. Sometimes Capcom can do well with weirdness.

But for some reason, they never start off with the GOOD kind of weird. The weird stuff they add is always weird because it's more along the lines of "why though" kinda weird.

For example, one of their first Limited Time events promised special head gear. I went through the quest, did what was asked, had to go through it a second time because I was one item shy and when I did, Gemma presented me with...this.

A smithy stands next to a mannequin that is wearing a bird on its head.
Look at her face, she knows she fucked up.

Also, it's alive. It's a living thing and it's blinking. Explain to me how Gemma went into the forget, hit metal with a hammer, and birthed a bird. Actually, wait, internet, do not tell me. I don't trust y'all with that kind of power.

But while silly, it's nothing that looks good with anything. I want weird but I want weird I can wear. I don't know if you heard but how I look in Monster Hunter is VERY important to me.

It took me a very long time to get together a character that looks this good.

A hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds, stands in blue, black, and purple armor, hugging a large yellow bird.
Yes, I look like I'd be fighting some sort of Kamen Rider, but that should be everyone's goal.

The most recent event quest, for example, tasks people with fighting a Rathian. One of the OG's of Monster Hunter. All for the sake of getting a piece of special headgear. What IS the headgear? A tiny little thing that looks like a plant that clips on the back of your ear. It is BARELY perceptible up close, completely invisible during a fight. Ain't no one gonna look at your character and see it.

Why, Capcom? You should be starting BIG. You wanna keep it's high player base, keep the new people invested too. Give me a costume to turn my Palico into a Servbot. Give me a bow or shooter that's just an arm cannon from Mega Man. Hell, do something new and take Darkstalkers, Capcom's oft forgotten monster FIGHTING game, and give us a cross over there. Let me be the rock and roll zombie I always wanted to be.

But this? Capcom...this ain't it.
