This is part of our extensive guide to Pokemon Legends: Z-A
NOTE: I went with a male presenting character so my character's bestie will be Taunie. If you went with one of the more female presenting ones you'll be friends with Urbain instead.
Despite how the other "Rogue Mega" missions start, instead of heading the Ampharos location, you're going to look for the yellow exclamation mark as you need to navigate the rooftops to get to the Ampharos. You'll find Naveem at a Holovator.

Unfortunately the Holovator is not working for some reason and a VERY suss looking Gwynn is standing off to the side trying to remain hidden in a way someone who's Pokemon is a massive light ficture probably never should.
She offers to help tell me what's wrong with the Holovator is I best her in battle because jesus is this all y'all do?
Gwynn of the Fist of Justice starts off with a Banette (weak to Ghost, Dark), Gourgeist (weak to Dark, Flying, Fire, Ghost, Ice), Gengar (weak to Dark, Psychic, Ghost), and Chandelure whom she Mega Evolves IMMEDIATELY (weak to Water, Ground, Dark, Rock, Ghost).

Afterwards she reveals that the Holovator was "haunted" by a lil' Phantump who her Chandelure chases off. Head on up.
Make your way over to the Ampharos and make DAMN sure you don't have a water type out. Naveem will remind you that when it Mega Evolves, it also gains the Dragon Type. Ice, Ground, Dragon, and Fairy will be your best friends here.
This fight will have the big guy chase after you trying to hit you with close range attacks so keep an eye on your placement to him. When it stands still and charges it will create a massive electric field that will do constant damage to anything in it so, honestly, it's easier to just put your Pokemon in a ball for a minute during this attack.
As the fight continues, that big attack will also throw secondary fields out as well as, occassionally, create electric sparks on the ground that will travel in random directions. Do not be satisfied with a close dodge either because if any of these sparks touch each other they'll explode so just keep staying away.

Afterwards you'll be rewarded with an Ampharosite and Naveem heals your Pokemon up.
Suddenly Emma shows up (you could have helped) and congratulates you. She said she was hoping L would have showed up as she's been trying to track him down. Realizing L isn't going to make one of his weird appearances she runs off.
