Pokemon Legends: Z-A Guide - "Main Mission 04: Battling in the Z-A Royale"

Welcome! Guessing you're here from our giant how-to guide for Pokemon Legends Z-A!

So you've just been given a notification that you're scheduled for your first rival match in the Z-A Royale. But first you have to earn enough points and to do that you're going to have to battle some trainers. Follow Taunie out of the hotel.

The game cuts to night and the Battle Zones open. Taunie tells you you need to defeat three trainers to get enough points and lets you know that she's going to chill there incase you need healing.

Upon entering you will, without a doubt, be caught off guard by a business woman who attacks you with a Bellsprout.

After that you run into Lida who lets you know that if you can sneak up on a trainer and their Pokemon and hit the Pokemon without warning you'll do extra damage. Likewise, if they get the jump on you, sometimes you'll be too stunned to move at first.

Luckily, near by, there's a trainer with his back turned to practice on. Beat his Bunnelby and Fletchling and you only got one more left!

Shortly after you'll find another trainer with a Weedle. Take him out and you're notified you can't earn any more points until you beat your rival so go ahead and leave the wild area.

Head back to the Pokemon Center and heal up. Find Taunie sitting outside and talk to her. She lets you know that your current rival, a man named Zach, is a taxi driver so you head over to the taxi lot where you find him.

Zach sucks. He's constantly at Rank Z which is good because his goal is to one day become Rank A so he can wish away all forms of travel except for taxi.

He's a fairly tricky fight with a decently strong Slowpoke, followed by a very easy Pidgey. Take those out and he throws out a Pikachu that took out all but, surprisingly, my Totodile which had learned Bite.

Beat him and he laments about his constant failure. Ignore it and celebrate because you're Rank Y now baby!

Shortly after, you're introduced to Emma who gives us BIG main character energy and...wait...no....IT'S EMMA FROM X and Y! She's taken over the Looker Detective Agency from Looker himself, the detective who basically adopted her off the streets way back in Pokemon X and Y. That's so rad.

She asks y'all to stop by her office and gives Taunie a cryptic message about being unable to find a person she asked her to look for before having somewhere else to be.

But hey, guess what! Mission complete!
