Pokemon Legends: Z-A Guide "Main Mission 10 - The Secret of Mega Evolution"

This is part of our massive guide for all of Pokemon Legends: Z-A
NOTE: I went with a male presenting character so my character's bestie will be Taunie. If you went with one of the more female presenting ones you'll be friends with Urbain instead.
Taunie is telling you about how Magenta Plaza and Juana Plaza have been turned into Wild Zones when she's interrupted by her phone. Vinnie calls to let her know that you're both needed at Quasarico Inc. so you're going on a field trip today.
In the courtyard of the hotel, however, Taunie stops you to test your ability to Mega Evolve. To continue you have to put Absol in your party with the Absolite as its hold item.
Once you start the fight, the first Pokemon she'll use is whatever starter you are strong against followed by whatever starter you are weak against. After you defeat those two she'll use her Manetric which she'll immediately Mega Evolve.
Mega Manetric is a speedy beast so make sure you're watching Absol's health. If it defeats your Absol it's going to stomp the rest of your party.
After you defeat Taunie, head to Quasarito Inc. where you're immediately stopped by security...two Dedennes. Defeat the horrifically bad choice for a security squad and you'll be met with two employees. One who's questioning why you are there, and Vinnie who pulls you away to a blocked off arena.
He asks you bluntly if you're responsible for the Absol and when he finds out he's delighted. He lets you know that Quasarito Inc. wants you and Taunie to help them with the Rogue Mega Evolution problem but for that you need to be a higher rank since you're both at V.
He busts out his phone and suddenly you get a notification that you have a match set against someone who is "Rank ???". Upon further investigation your rival screen looks like this:
Oh...Oh damnit. Vinnie is who I right at Rank V. I should have seen that coming a mile away.
Anyways, you need to gather 6,000 points first so get cracking, buckaroo.
After you've stalked the Battle Zone and earned your points, head on back and challenge Vinnie for one of the best matches in the game so far.
Vinnie hits you with a Houndoom, then a Sharpedo, then a Bunneary, then a Drampa. And, much to my surprise, dude Mega Evolves the Drampa.
I love it so much.
That Sharpedo is a massive problem who wiped out both my Grass Type AND my Electric Type and Mega Drampa is an absolute damage sponge. But once you complete it you rank up...and up...and up. In what is, arguably, the funniest scene in the game you get to watch your character react as you go from V all the way to F.

Taunie also challenges him and moves up to Rank F as well.
Taking you both into the office building, Vinnie officially tasks you both with handling the Rogue Mega problem the city is facing. Then Jett, the CEO, shows up and calls Vinnie away and you and Taunie head back to the hotel.
At the hotel you and the rest of the Team MZ gang decide to strategize what to do about the information they were given as it turns out there's several Mega Power spikes in the area.
They decide that they're going to all split up and handle these seperately with you going to all three and helping (you wanna bet they'll be at full health whenever I get to whichever?).
First, is Taunie handling a Slowbro in Amylis Park in the Bleu District. Secondly, Lida will take the Camerupt in Jaune Sector 3. And finally, Naveem will take the Victreebel in Magenta Sector 9.

After you're done with the three, head back to the hotel. As you're about to head in, however, you're stopped by Zygarde in it's amazing 10% form.
After beating it (Dragon, Fairy, and Ice are super powerful here) it'll give you something...a pebble.
Then, someone shows up from behind Zygarde. He introduces himself as L though his beard, stance, and hair make him seem like an old, beat up version of Lysandre, X and Y's Team Flare leader and relative to AZ. Oh, and also one of the main villains.
He talks about how Zygarde is supposed to keep order and senses the changes to the city with the Mega Energy getting out of control.
He then tells me Zygarde has chosen to stand by my side. Then says AZ will pay for his sins, but later. Then he leaves.
Meanwhile, back in the hotel, you'll do the annoying silent protagonist thing of not telling ANYONE what just went down and they'll talk about stocking up on Mega Stones.
Mission Complete!
