While roaming around PAX East this past weekend, we got a chance to try some really fun video games, chat with developers and reps about their projects, and we saw some incredible cosplay on the Expo floor and around the convention center.

Cosplaying, short for "costume play", is a fun way to represent your favorite fandoms and characters by dressing up just like them and, sometimes, acting like them too. Accessories, hair colors and styles, colored contacts, hours upon hours perfecting props and costumes (which can be both purchased or handmade, there's no gatekeeping here) - it's literally a work of love.

It can be a very expensive hobby depending on how complex your cosplay is, but it's a really fun way to make friends and spend time with them at conventions and events.

Take a look at some of the talent spotted around PAX East:

I actually got to be a part of a pretty big League of Legends cosplay group this time, and I got to meet and become friends with incredibly talented cosplayers who have been doing this for quite sometime, as well as new cosplayers who gave it a shot at PAX East and loved the hobby. We spent about an hour taking group pictures, hyping each other up, complimenting each other's cosplays, and helping fix last-minute whoopsies when it comes to props and wardrobe malfunctions.

Here are some fun highlights from the shoot:

So many Jinxes and Vis! All thanks to Arcane, of course.

For those curious about cosplaying, there are many resources around - there are quite a few social media accounts flooded with cosplay ideas and finished products, and the cosplaying community is very welcoming.

Stay tuned for even more PAX East 2025 coverage coming this week. We've had a few interviews posted to our Instagram page and YouTube channel - keep an eye on them for more.
